One Day by Matisyahu
sometimes I lay under the moon and thank God I’m breathing then I pray don’t take me soon cause I am here for a reason sometimes in my tears I drown but I never let it get me down so when negativity surrounds I know some day it’ll all turn around because all my life I’ve been waiting for I’ve been praying for for the people to say that we don’t...
Us by Brother Ali
I started rhyming just to be somebody to make people notice me at the party And not just be the new kid that's albino Make em say yeah I know but have you heard him rhyme though Now take that same party around the globe And my stories connected with a lot of folks I hope so cause that's the only thing I know I know it so well I tell it with my eyes closed And I go with the feeling from the start...
Poem for South African Women by June Jordan
Our own shadows disappear as the feet of thousands by the tens of thousands pound the fallow land into new dust that rising like a marvelous pollen will be fertile even as the first woman whispering imagination to the trees around her made for righteous fruit from such deliberate defense of life as no other still will claim inferior to any other safety in the world
The whispers too they intimate...

Can someone please say AMEN Stand up and understand We need a HERO to guide and hold our hand…
The Nation of my generation is unhealthy And the choices we make lead us to destruction It wasn’t that we were taught wrong, brought up wrong or shown wrong And never wanted to do right I think our parents should make verbal contact rather than physical ones Because mental contact is...

Be What?
Be, be here, be there, be that, be this Be grateful for life, be grateful to life Be gleeful everyday, for being the best swimmer among 500,000 Be-nign, be you, be mom’s mean pie, be little black sambo With bad hair Be aware of what a lynch is, Be, be boundless energy Be a four star ghetto general, be no one except I Be a strong academic student, be an A student in sociology Be food...

What is Gratitude?
Tell me one thing: When you are grieving the loss of a dear one, do you verbalize your grief? Will you be able to verbalize your grief? No! It becomes such a deep-rooted emotion that it becomes the state of your Being, is it not? You can only feel it; you can never report it. Is it not? Yes or No? Yes Swamiji… In the same way, gratitude when it becomes your very Being, will simply become your...

The Dark Knight
Favorite Dialogues from The Dark Knight:
The Joker: Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I’m a dog chasing cars. I wouldn’t know what to do with one if I caught it. You know, I just… do things. The mob has plans, the cops have plans, Gordon’s got plans. You know, they’re schemers. Schemers trying to control their little worlds. I’m not a...

Should Have Stayed In Bed Instead by The Pazz
Got no rest the night before, Eyes are heavy, throat is sore, A dull migraine throbs in my head, I should have stayed in bed instead. Already late by half an hour, I ran too fast, Tripped in the shower, Shaved too close, Got nicked and bled, I should have stayed in bed instead. ‘Coz my heart said ‘STAY’ But my head said ‘NO’ ‘You can’t keep slackin’ off, you know?’ Next time though, I’ll just...

Responding With Purpose
What upsets you is not what happened. What upsets you is your response to what happened.
Just as easily as you respond in a negative way, you can easily and naturally respond in a positive, empowering, and uplifting way.
The biggest problems are often caused by what you choose to do about the smallest problems. Most of those big, painful problems are so unnecessary.
Keep reminding yourself...
